Am I a lucky one?

2 years of pmr and 22 months on pred, starting on 15 and now down to one mg. Only pmr type symptoms left are a stiffish neck and, occasionally, some very tired days. Is it all over, or could it strike back? My weight has remained steady, but I have chubby cheeks. Will they return to normal? I am 83 and back out with my walking group.

Yours, Studland.

Well Done 🍀

The cheeks should go in due course mine started to go at about 7.5mg & by 5mg l looked pretty much like me!

Currently in 12.5mg so l have a very chubby face & neck ☺️

You dont look chubby at all. I look like some kind of demon hamster. I want to rush down to 5mg just so I get my own face back!! I can live with the other weight gain. Studland you sound like you have done extremely well. Good luck x

Hi,

“Only pmr type symptoms left are a stiffish neck and, occasionally, some very tired days. Is it all over, or could it strike back?”

Can stiff neck be attributed to anything else? Tired days may well be due to adrenals not firing on all cylinders as yet.

As for, is it all over - you won’t know for sure until you have finished your Pred completely and have no return of symptoms. Could it strike back - we never know. If it hasn’t gone completely - very likely.

Two years is usually the very minimum timescale for PMR - so you may be one of the lucky ones. Do hope so, you seem to have had a fairly easy time compared to some, but just as a precaution, don’t ditch the medication completely.

Good luck.

Sounds good Studland. Hopefully you are one of the people who have it for the minimum time. There has to be some out there! As Dorset Lady said stiff neck could be blamed on something else but good on you being back with your walking group.

All good so far - but 1mg MAY be enough to keep it under control. Don't be in a hurry!!!
