Re splitting dose again......

After posting a few days ago and having read replies and advice I did decide yesterday to split my 15mg dose and took 10mg at 5am and 5mg at 5pm. This seems to have worked well so for 24 hrs was relatively pain free. I am however a bit concerned about reports that splitting the dose can result can increase the chance of side effects (after a month the only thing I have noticed is that I have slightly chubbier cheeks so dont want to rock the boat) and the fact that the adrenals sometimes dont kick in properly when they should do at a later date. I know people have differing opinions but being new to the Pred journey I am anxious to do not only what is right for me pain wise but right for my body as a whole.

There is no right or wrong way through this PMR journey.

You have to do what is right for you, that may not be what’s correct for me, nor anyone else on this forum. We can give you our views, but everybody is different.

As you go along you will learn to listen to your body, and react accordingly, but don’t get too intense about “doing the right thing”, only the right thing for you!

It really makes little difference at this stage re the adrenals, they will be suppressed anyway. And splitting often acheves a better result for a lower dose of pred. Which is what you want.

My US rheumy (the one I fought with after firing her partner) told me to split the dose pretty early on. I think I was at 20 mg then. It certainly helped with the heartburn. I also didn't feel so "dosed" during the day and so "strung out" in the evening.
