A Good Way to Taper!?

This was an accidental taper for, but perhaps the easiest and best of all.

Last week I was on 3.5mg - 2.5 in the morning and 1 at bedtime. For a number of reasons I completely forgot the bedtime 1 mg. When I have previously forgotten a dose, which has happened on occasions, the PMR has let me know very definitely that I have not taken all the pred I should have done. This time I didn't realise till the following morning when I was due to take the next 2.5mg. BUT, I felt absolutely no pain or discomfort at all. I could hardly believe it.

Subsequently, I have reduced to 3mg daily, and it has been very straightforward. I'm now feeling better than for months, but not counting my chickens yet, as experience tells me this could be the waxing/waning of PMR. Fingers crossed

Paddy

Excellent - and it does sound promising! With a bit of luck and a following wind your adrenals may be happily coming out to play too!

That's great. I'm pleased for you.

How long had you had PMR?

I assume you meant to reply to Charlie1boy not me?

Coming up to 4.5 years. Started at 30mg; got down to 15 mg in three months, but the rest of the time has been a long slow taper, but fortunately without any major flare.

Thank you for your interest and reply. Yes, it does feel different this time, but I know there's many a slip twixt cup and lip.

I remain optimistic however.

That’s sounds promising Charlie. I’m impressed that you dropped to 3 and didn’t chance the 2.5, very wise. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Yes. Think I'd have been tempting fate if I'd done that.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, it was a meeting I didn't want to miss, but we were away in Norfolk for a weekend break.

Best wishes
