After being diagnosed by two Drs with PMR now one says probably not. Need you to see a neurologist. I think it’s MS. Well, that had been ruled out. But I see the neurologist. He says no to MS but he’s reasonably sure it’s some disease diabetics get. So I’m tested for that. Nope. Not it.
So I’m back where I was. I still think the original diagnosis was correct. I simply don’t ever fit in a typical box with anything I experience. One day at a time. Bad days, not so bad and every once in awhile a good day. Life goes on.
Picture of the new family member. At least she’s predictable... she’s a dachshund.... queen of the universe. Lololol

Was diagnosed Sept 2015. Have tried methotrexate. No change whatsoever. Prednisone helps immensely however it destroys my blood sugar. They’ve wanted me to try things I just am not willing to take with no real idea they’ll help. If they want me to be a lab experiment they can pay me.
At this point I use various essential oils and periodically ibuprofen. I survive.
Great to see you back! Sorry you’ve been through it! Glad those things are ruled out. Osteoarthritis muddies my picture now. What a darling little dog!
Many moons ago (2011?) before all this PMR malarkey, I was at work when I experienced some vision loss. GP ordered me straight to A&E, where they thought I’d had a TIA. So about 3 days later I sat in the TIA clinic feeling a proper fraud. I told the Consultant that, and declared there was no way I’d had a TIA! He agreed with me and said he was 95% certain I hadn’t had a TIA, but it was his job to prove it, so would I kindly go and have a contrast MRI and he’d see me again in the afternoon. I did, it proved us both right, I was diagnosed with migraine, thought to be associated with the menopause. I had repeat similar vision problems occasionally for the next few years, then (touching wood) nothing since. Thank heavens these didn’t coincide with my PMR, as surely a GCA connection would have been made. But my point is, a good doctor wants to get the right diagnosis, and as PMR seems to be a diagnosis of elimination, then ruling out other stuff is the way to go.
I saw my rheumi in September last and was sent off for scans, she’d had another few thoughts of “It might be.....” But it wasn’t any of them! So I’m stuck with PMR as a diagnosis too......until the next thought 😉
We have things in common- difficult to diagnose and dachshunds 💕💕I'm about to start taking Methotrexate (. As long as my liver isn't already shot away by my colourful youth and the fibroscan is ok) . As I type I have three little dachshunds cuddled up to me , Minnie , Missy and Rosie . They are such a comfort when I have duvet days , which is a lot of the time !
Minnie had a dreadful accident last night - she fell from the top of the stairs to the bottom. I watched her as she fell and was petrified that she'd broken her back . She has broken her pelvis in two places but doesn't need surgery , just rest and pain killers like her mummy . It could have been a lot worse , which is what I keep telling myself when I feel full of self pity about this wretched disease that we all share ......
Hopefully she heals well and is back to running in circles around you soon. My last one I had in the truck with me. I couldn’t do it again. To the dog or myself. Lol.
Hopefully they find what works for you. I really think mine is several things combined rather than one clear, concise thing. I just know what didn’t help. People are different
Sure hope you get things sorted out so you can put a treatment plan in place.
I had the opposite experience, my GP diagnosed PMR and I do to, but when I went to my rheummy she constantly was suspect I had something else (I was atypical because I was so young-55-according to her, negative for RA factor). Finally the stress of going to her was too much and now I am overseen by my GP and managing my illness pretty well.
I to am a dachshund lover and currently have a old fella named Oscar. Our family also had two females growing up Suzy and Missy. They are wonderful pets, and have helped me through some challenging times.
