First Flare -Advice please

Thought I had escaped, but hardly surprising since accident at Christmas necessitating shoulder bone replacement. Have since had two UTIS and gum infection so three lots of antibiotics in as many weeks. Yesterday I thought thighs had swelled and today I know for sure PMR is flaring since backs of thighs are aching as much as they were pre diagnosis and having stiffness which is hampering walking. Also aching across shoulder blades. Started pred at 15mgs in June 17, been on 7 mgs (current dose) for months with two aborted attempts to taper to 6.5mgs before Christmas. I need to bite the bullet and increase pred, but by how much. Advice gratefully received.

Difficult one - you don't know if the actual disease activity has increased or if it is just a blip. I'd try 10mg first and see how that goes.

Hope the rise to 10mg works

Sorry to hear this Marilyn. It’s like snakes and ladders. I hope 10 mg is the ladder you need. Take care!

Hi Marilyn, sorry you're struggling. I've been on 9mg now for only three weeks, was doing well, but this last week has been tough, think working hadn't helped (even though I had to take two days off!) so I'm going to see what this week brings, though it's half term and can rest plenty. You've been through the mill, more than most, so be kind to yourself and go up a bit if you feel you should. You need to get strong again. Take care and thanks for all your ongoing support.

Sorry you’re going through this Marilyn - you could do without this after all you’ve been through. Hope the 10 mg hits it on the head.
