Im in my third or fourth year of polymylgia without taking anything for it. Tried methotrexate with disastrous results.Oddly my pain and stiffness seem better all on their own with no treatment.Wonder if its just run its course?

Hi,

One never know for sure until all symptoms have gone, but I do hope so.

Just as a matter of interest - why did you try methotrexate when you wouldn’t countenance Pred?

Because of bi polar

Ok, sorry to hear that. My niece has as well, so I know how debilitating that can be sometimes. ❤️

I hope so for your sake, I would be bedridden. Methotrexate side effects alarm me more than Prednisalone.

Yes both are dangerous to me because of bi polar. So am off all medicines

Did we talk a year or so ago, when you were wondering if you could take Pred under supervision?

I am really sorry that you are in this situation.

Who suggested you took Methotrexate without pred, it is unlikely to have done much for you apart from the side effects? I know I would be in a wheelchair with full term care if I had not taken pred. It was like a miracle when I first took it.

I couldnt take steroids because of bi polar but the methotrexate caused me to have a break down. So off all tablets now

I am so happy for you. I’m really happy for you. You took a chance and were lucky. I’d give a lot to be in your situation. Do you do other stuff? Take supplements? Xxx

Was the methotextrate because you may have had Rheumatoid arthritis rather than PMR? I was going downhill so much that without the pred I'd have no quality of life. Now after 18 months, I'm adding methotextrate to the pred (6mg) I guess to get me off the pred since I haven't been able to reduce further without pain returning.Dr did say PMR was self limiting so maybe yours has reached its limit.

No i was prescribed methotrexate as i have bi polar too and steroids were considered too risky for my mood disorder
