Has anyone else got PMR AND Seronegative Polyarthritis?
The pain and discomfort is unbearable at times. How do you relax?

Well I can't say for certain I have PMR but I have definitely had the symptoms for a long time. When I asked the rheumy nurse she said PMR was a syndrome - whatever that means. I am Seropositive for RA and have been on a rollercoaster ride of new drugs and prednisone for the past two years almost - since the previous drug failed.
Currently waiting to start new drug in January, meanwhile I am on 10mgs of Pred, 25mgs of methotrexate. As of the middle of last week, the Pred went from 5-10 - I have been on max strength Cocodamol with Ibuprofen as needed. I am much better and I take the Pred at night which seems to be way more effective than in the morning. Up to this point I was virtually immobilised. Have you tried any of the pain relief mentioned?
I stick to Pred. Tried MTX but it didn't agree with me.
I also take Cocodamol. I try to keep the tablets down to 2 at night, 2 in the day.
I was pleased when the new rheumatologist told me the cartilage in my knees wasn't too bad for a woman of my age - he'd thought I may need new kneecaps when he examined me! Wasn't pleased at the next visit when he said "Seronegative Polyarthritis", though😟
PMR is bad enough on it's own!!!
Ah well! I've coped so far so I will no doubt cope in the future. Would just like to have one or two days without pain.😏
It seems to me you should talk to your doctor about increasing the Pred.
Don't have to! I've had PMR for 6 1/2 years and we are old "friends/enemies". My doctor allows me to deal with the Pred as I think fit.
Thanks for your interest.

Does more pred help the knee pain? If so - use it!!
Don't know! Can't sort things out at the moment. Where the hell is all this pain coming from?
Knowing that would be a great help! What does the doctor think it is from?
To be honest I have felt that I have the PMR under control at 4 mg. Unfortunately, because of the weather, the arthritis has gradually got worse. I'm very pleased that the cartilage isn't too worn out, but the pain of the tendonosis is particularly bad at the moment (more inflammation).
I'll cope. I always do! Just felt a bit down.
This damp weather will not be helping Constance. It is very wearing to be in pain all the time. Much help available on-line? Diet etc?
Seems so much that is going on Constance13 must be so difficult to get a handle on it. Do hope you will have some joy in knowing how to move forward and what exactly to take and when. There are so many folk on here that have other problems besides GCAand PMR must be very difficult and makes me thankful at the moment I'm only dealing with these two. All the very best. Let us know how you get on xx
