Hi there,

I am new to the group. Have been on pred now for almost 3 years, having developed PMR a few weeks after my husband died and thought it was just stress! Got down to 2.5 mgs a few months ago but now back up to 4. Have been like a yo-yo for the last year. Doc tells me that I have only had 2 months where by inflammation levels have been good and just don't know why only those two months! So frustrating. Is stress a factor?

I was diagnosed in April this year but luckily found this site very early on so I am quite well informed! I am in the UK and treatment and advice from professional varies very widely. I have not had my blood checked since I was first diagnosed so I don't know what my information levels are like, but I am sure stress is a major factor both in the cause of PMR and its progression. PMR last on average 6 years so I do not think a level of 4mg is high, that may just be the dose you need to keep your symptoms at bay until PMR runs its course. I am sure you will hear from much more informed members soon. Do you think your doctor is trying to get you off the pred too quickly?

It seems your new thread has been posted twice Jenerino. I thought it was odd that you hadn't got any replies!!
