I had a telephone interview yesterday following my email to PMR GCA uK for a role as a BUDDY. And I have been added to the list of volunteer buddies. Has anyone else considered this scheme to help those with PMR and/ or GCA who would like to chat to someone who knows what it's like.
When I was first diagnosed I found it invaluable to find people locally who had been there tried that. Now with 3 and a half years under my belt, unfortunately, and experience of a host of side effects I feel I could talk to people wanting support who prefer a phone call to the Internet.
Would any of you like to join me. They are looking for more.......see the latest Newswire.
Valerie
Photo is view from my resting chair over the Solent to Isle of Wight, UK . Oh by the way, resting chair is a riser recliner bought last week to help me out of a chair after specialist nurse said" no it's not lazy, if it helps, buy one". It is fab-u- lous as someone on Strictly would say.

Well done Val. What a wonderful view over The Solent you have.
My comment would be as to Doset lady. I carry a print out of your explanation of PMR with me to get others to read when they say "What's that?" I am so grateful there are volunteers willing to give their time to help us, members of the club no-one wants to join.
I'm just up the road! 1st October and I'm in the garden in hot sunshine! Am too busy currently to be a buddy but might be up for it later! My view is from hamble! Lucky aren't we?! X
I was only diagnosed 6 months ago so I don't feel I have enough 'experience' yet, but it is certainly something I will consider in the future. I have found this forum invaluable and am very grateful for the experiences and expertise shared here.
Well done Val, this is what Professor Dasgupta spoke about at the AGM in London recently. I'm pleased it's getting off the ground so quickly. Let us know how you get on with it - highs and lows of committing in that way... Personally I cannot commit the time as I care for my husband (and son at the moment too) but wanted to say you're doing a good job and more like you are needed. Lovely view.
