head pain
I know exactly what you mean. Bit like pin and needles and ants creaping under my scalp. My rheumy says people often report this sensation- but no explanation! Weird feeling though ...
I had that too, but not recently. I also had a strange feeling like a zig-zagging/ electric current at the base of my skull, and stabby jabs to my head as well as elsewhere - legs, back, toes, just come on out of the blue. The doctor seemed to think it was anxiety! Would rather it be that than something sinister...
Oh you've had the "It's probably because you are anxious" or the other favourite, "It's all in your mind". I had both of those for 4 years before I ever developed PMR and when another doctor decided to take me seriously and investigated it turned out that I had 2 ruptured discs. My what a strong mind I must have if it can tear 2 lumbar discs!
Yes I was told it was anxiety, but thinking about it I was told that other pains I had in the past also had to be anxiety. So frustrating when you tell them you’re not feeling anxious. Looking back it could be that it was all leading up to PMR. Anxiety is featured on the lists of causes/symptoms though.
It seems to be their get out of jail card when they can't come up with a diagnosis and don't want to spend precious surgery funds on investigations. If they can convince you it is all in the mind they don't have to do anything more, at least until you have the wherewithall to go back and insist they investigate things properly. I got it from GPs and hospital consultants alike, but no apology when I was proved to be right. Ah well we get there eventually. One step at a time
For the past three years I have been getting strange sensations on both sides if my head, it's like something moving up and down, it comes and goes every day. I had a ct scan and blood tests which showed nothing wrong but can't help worrying as to what is causing it as its not a pleasant feeling.
Oh wow, I have been having that same tingling on my temple for over a week now. It comes and goes with stabbing pain. Not as bad before the prednisone, but still causes me to stop a second. Also having numbness and tingling in my toes and left arm/wrist. I see my Rheume on Tuesday next week. Was going to address this with her at that time.
Dear Ballyboy,
I thought I was alone on this! Several months ago I started getting strange pins and needles sensations that would move about my body. Of late, the sensations seem to be more focused on my head. I’ve told ALL my doctors, and no one can explain it. It’s definitely not anxiety. My guess is that it must be linked to nerve pathways being affected.
All the best,
Canygirl
