And WHAT a 'duo' you would make - I can see the same 'glint' in his innocent little eyes - which despite the fact you say he looks 'exactly' like his Dad seems to uncannily also resemble YOU Melissa (as is very obvious I am sure to everyone on the forum). He will be a most fortunate lad however if he also inherits some of your wittiness, insight, and creativity - not to mention your sincerity or 'directness' which clearly challenges some people from time to time - and I am thinking often for their 'own good'. The thing also about 'chaos' is that we are all living 'in it' most of the time but few of us are brave enough to talk about it - let alone write about it - or we might feel that we are unleashing some 'stuff' we cannot then just jam easily back into the 'bag'.
I know I am not alone when you speak what many of us feel - in our own individual ways - and so all power to your superhero soul Melissa and to Max 'flying' right along with you !!

Awe... Rimmy, that's cool you think he resembles me! Thank you!!!! I love that you see "...that same glint," in his eyes too! As my Mom used to say.., "...trouble looking for a place to happen!"
Hmmm, I'm thinking if he has even an ounce of my Sicilian/Irish blood (and spends ANY time with me at all!) he won't be able to stop himself from being genuine, sincere and direct! To the point where he too will challenge some people! And ya know what, good on him, if he does! Life is too short to be part of a herd and never makes waves!
And Rimmy.... thank you, thank you for always appreciating my rough edges. It means a lot to me. xxxxxx
I heard someone say today: 'frankness can if sincere be a virtue' - especially if the person being 'frank' is making themselves sincerely vulnerable to the responses and opinions of others by risking to say things which can be challenging or confronting - even if well intended. So that determination of yours to be 'direct' is quite brave and I admire it - and also agree life IS too short to be anything else.
X
Ohhhh, I like that! "Frankness, is a virtue!" Maybe my epitaph! Hahahahaha!
And this, my friend, is why I take kids to the beach and/or to the sandbox.
We did take him out a lot GG, but when he was in the flat he was mayhem! : )
Of course you did!
Not wilful or distructive just a normal little boy in his second rear of life. We've got one very similar . Don't you just love the way they look at you before they do something naughty!
...it's like they are weighing the pros and cons of the upcoming action, and then WHAM the coaster gets flung across the room!
Love it
Kids will be kids and if you haven't grown up by 50 you don't need to, well that's my excuse
Love the photo of you and Max.
My husband's 72 and hasn't grown up!!
I don't think any of them do!!!!!
Well now we know where bam bam gets it from 🤔
I LOVE IT!!!! Bam Bam!!!!
Lovely photo of you both.Grandchildren are so precious, love them!
Thank you! .... yes they are!
I can see the mischief in you pair! Can't kid a kidder!!!
Oh he and I could get into some serious trouble... Mum had her eye on us the whole time! Although, I did get in several spoonfuls of ice cream, that she didn't see!
😂😂😂..mum had her eye on us....I used to kidnap my younger sisters two daughters when they were little. Always came to stay for a week in the summer and I let them run riot. They are in their 20s now and we still laugh about it. Putting it all on Facebook is brilliant. Like grandparents aunties are once removed so we get the good stuff!! Then hand them back.
The "problem" was that I never had any authority over them and if I got mad they just laughed at me until I cracked up. You have those lovely parentfree visits to look forward to too.
Oh fun! I never had nieces or nephews to spoil rotten... I went right to my own children. So having Grandchildren was quite exciting for me!!!! My 19 year old grandson (who I'm the tiniest bit partial to, because it was only him for 12 years, and I helped to raise him) got the BEST of me for sure!!!!! My love, attention, time, youth, money... No, he is NOT spoiled at all! : o
😂😂😂
We could make a tag team, I can be Havoc from Down Under. Brings tears to the eyes just thinking of that one. Brilliant writing and very entertaining x
YES! Chaos, Mayhem and Havoc from Down Under!
And thank you for reading and supporting me!
Boys will be boys as they say and likeness of you is uncanny...I always took mine out otherwise the house would have been wrecked, it's called boredom and yes it is a full time job keeping them occupied, at least you've only got the one running riot, at the moment...
Happy days Melissa
Ohhhh thanks for saying that! I guess it's the light hair and light skin makes me think he "looks" just like his Dad.
Thanks for reading...
Skin colours one thing, characteristics another. My nephew's partner is Indonesian and their eldest daughter is very dark haired like her mum - he has dark ginger hair, but her skin is fair and her facial characteristics are such she is the spitting image of dad - and boy is she beautiful!
Wow! Sounds exotic!!!!! Very cool!
Hi Melissa.
Just caught up with your posts & blog. I’m really sorry your knee is giving you so much angst. I had a meniscus problem last year caused by wheeling patients on trolleys and beds round too many tight corners that weren’t designed to be negotiated by same. Ruined my 60th birthday party as I had my knee in a brace and couldn’t dance. I’m still trying to get assessed for why it clunks when I bend it. The dreaded community assessment service - again!!!
But, I digress. My neighbour had both knees done last year. I would hazard a guess she is quite a few years senior to you and she is out and about doing everything and more that a lady of her age (80’s) can and should be doing ie: driving her car, going on holiday, walking 1.5 miles a day briskly, shopping, going to U3A, entertaining. So, having your knee done, sounds like a “no brainer” to me, but as your ortho said “it’s up to you”. It wont get better on its own though and the more the 2 bones grind together the worse it will get - ouch!!!! Hope you get it sorted, so you can enjoy your lovely grandson.
Your “chaos & mayhem” made me laugh. Rang a few bells! Ive decided that according to the definitions you quoted, my life turned to chaos after a single act of mayhem. What I need now is to convert it to one of peace and tranquility and my body to return to a state of homeostasis!!!
Keep ranting. I love it!! X
Bummer about your knee and not being able to DANCE at your 60th!!!!! : (
Yeah... I'm going to do the exercises daily and ride the bike to see if I can build the muscles and alleviate some of the pain. I'd like to get through the summer and be under 20 mg before doing surgery. Also would like to be laid up in fall/winter... Fingers crossed.
Thank for reading and for your support! You made me laugh... "...my life turned to chaos after a single act of mayhem.' Now there is story I'd like to hear!!!!!
I hope you are feeling well!!!!
Hi Mamici1
Thanks for your reply. The chaos resulting from the mayhem, is a story you couldn’t make up! One for another day. Some of it hit the headlines at the time and some of it is private. I’ll DM you when I’ve sorted out current chaos story below.
My life of chaos continued yesterday, with the discovery on Tuesday evening of a small oil leak on the refuelling pipe to my domestic oil tank. Didn’t think it too serious until I called someone out to fix it. They checked the entire system and found I’ve got a leak in the oil tank itself as well, which is bigger than the pipe one 😱😱😱
Outcome? Need new oil tank. Cost including labour and new base (as existing one doesn’t meet regulations) and tax is around £4,000!!!! At the moment I am busy running outside every few hours to empty the container that’s catching the drips. Brings to mind the old song “I’ve a hole in my bucket dear Liza, dear Liza.....”
Then, just to add insult to injury, I got a message yesterday evening to say that something I’m trying to do, which if I’m successful will significantly reduce my stress levels, is still on hold and looking less likely to happen.
Oh, and then I realised that I had completely forgotten to take my car in for its MOT which I had booked for Monday am. Pred brain!!!!!
So much for trying to reduce stress in my life. I currently feel like a mushroom!! You know how it goes?
You live your life in a dark warm cupboard, but every now and then someone opens the door and throws another load of s**t on you. I must be one hell of a mushroom! A very large portobello by now I think!! Maybe I need to team up with some garlic and keep the evil spirits away.
I said to my OH last night that I felt I must have done something awfully bad at some point in my life to warrant so much s**t happening. Reaction? “I don’t think that’s a very helpful way of looking at things”. Maybe not, but you know just sometimes......
Anyway , today is another day and I just need to smile, be grateful for what I have (which compared to many is a lot) and kick on. It is what it is.
Have a great day 😀
Oh Nerak12, You do make me laugh! Thank you! I'm sorry about the £4,000 hole in your bucket! That soooo sucks! I hope you get it sorted soon. And I can only hope, that the thing that you thought would reduce your stress levels; either may still happen, or may not have reduced your stress levels at all, or may have reduced your stress levels, but they would have gotten filled up by other stressful stuff anyway, so six of one...
And yes, you are definitely one helluva mushroom! I'd say a Truffle or a Morels, for sure! Priceless.
*laughing* When my hubby comes back with a comment like that I usually respond with a carefully chosen expletive... and we both laugh!
Have the best day possible, under the current situation! : )
Mmmm! Truffle or morel? Hard to choose. Both delicious & expensive. Might go for truffle, because I’m rather fond of pigs and they like truffles too. Xx
Omg Melissa. I can so relate to what you are saying. I am so clumsy. My friends and family just roll their eyes - “ Sue’s here” they warble. My youngest daughter is exactly the same. Seems it may be inherited. Max is so sweet. Butter wouldn’t melt........ lol. X
Hahahahahaha! I'm glad I'm not the only one! Thank you.. I think he's pretty neat!
Lovely photo and I so enjoy your writing Melissa- it always flows so well and makes me laugh and that's important for PMRGCA!! I too think Max is typical for his age and it's lovely being a grandparent isn't it?! For me things are not so serious, you can really enjoy them, laugh at their antics , spoil them and then be able to give them back to get that rest and relaxation!
Ohhhhh, thank you so very much! And thank you for your support and encouragement! I like that I make you laugh!!!!!
Yes, he is typical, I'm sure.... but it was just weird for me seeing him be (what appeared to be purposefully naughty!
I did have a blast with him, when he wasn't strangling my plants! : o
Oh, I think truffles and mushrooms often co-exist, especially porcini which I’m also very fond of. However, I think wild boar are often found where porcini grow and they’re not so friendly. Dilemma!!! X
Still trying to catch up 3 days HU. Lovely pic. How is your daughter nowadays?
Hi! Thank you.. she is well, thanks!!! If not totally exhausted! Teaching full time and mother to a 16 month old who does not sleep though the night yet! September is 4 years cancer free!!!!!!
