Just wondering how Mark is getting on - having stopped his pred at 4 mg? Did I miss an update? Thanks.

Thanks for the link DL, I was glad to re-read it and as my pred dosage is currently down to 3.5 mg it has set me wondering..............................................!

The trouble is.......you don’t know if your PMR or GCA has gone into remission until you come off the Pred, and are off it for some time (how long? I would hazard at least a month) and you have no return of symptoms!

Is it a risk worth taking when you are down as low as 3.5mg and obviously getting no side effects?

Depends how brave you are I suppose!

I know - all commonsense, of course, but very tempting.............................................!

You could always try....but sometimes better the devil you know! 👺

I thought I was probably in remission last year, when I was at 1.5. My doctor encouraged me to use up my remaining tablets, stop and see what happened. What happened was a flare. Not a major one, but I had to go as high as 7 to curb it. About ten months late my stable dose is 2.5, although I have been making a few stabs at 2 and I think when I'm back from my holiday I may be ready to taper again. But, still higher than I was last year at this time. I regret to tell you that my experience is probably more common than Mark's!

Not what you're looking for?
