Lozarapam

I have felt down for weeks and lozarapam has stopped panic attacks. They also help to cheer me up a bit. I have checked my reducing chart and realise it all started when I reduced to 6mg in February. Now should I bite the bullet and up my pred or try and hang on till I have my bloods done on the third of April. Trying not to take more than half 1mg of lozarapam a day. Thanks

I am glad that you have found something that makes you feel better. I’m not sure what I would do in your position. Do you still have no appetite?

I wonder what would happen if you went back to the last dose on your chart where you felt ok?

Whatever you decide, I wish you well.

Still not much appetite Jane. Feel ok for most of the time and then feel gloomy again. Not sleeping too well. I am thinking about going back to 8 but dont want to mess my adrenal glands up if they are kicking in. Feel a bit of a moaner

We all feel a bit of a moaner trust me! Moan away, you are among friends. We are just guessing about the Adrenals really. One GP in our practice seemed taken aback when I mentioned it. He said “ well I don’t think you’ve got Addison’s “ as if it was some bizarre idea of my own. You’ve got to laugh, it’s better than crying.

Not Addison's - secondary adrenal insufficiency related to long term corticosteroid use. Where do they put their brains sometimes?

I do remember a time when I was at about 7 mg when I felt very panicky for no reason. Because there was no reason I didn't worry about it; sounds a bit odd, doesn't it, to say I didn't worry about feeling anxious and worried and even panicky! It was certainly related to the pred dose. I guess I was able to detach my thoughts from the physical feeling of worry and anxiety. And after about three weeks I noticed I felt normal again, or at least as normal as I ever do! I continued to taper successfully, basing my dose and taper on my pain symptoms.

I've mentioned this on another thread: try to get hold of Rescue Remedy, perhaps from a health food store, and use that instead of Lorazepam. I found it as effective as Lorazepam (which I used extremely sparingly for a time) when I was anxious during flights, and even used it, the Rescue Remedy, during a tooth extraction!

I found Rescue Remedy and Rescue Sleep at a Nutrition Store yesterday. I am at 7mg. I slept through until 5:30 this morning using the Sleep. Woohoo! I do feel panicky again this morning though. I’m about to try the Rescue Remedy for day time. I feel a bit relieved knowing this panicky feeling can happen with a taper like mine. I’ve always been troubled with anxiety and this is making it worse. Thank you again for the information.

Now that feels helpful Heron. I do know that objective feeling - it is the drug not me. Especially with this new temper of mine.

I have used the Homoeopathic remedy Aconite which is good for fear and my daughters carry rescue remedy around, as I did when I had to do presentations and the like at work.

I've used a jet lag formula from a local aromatherapist and it really does work (tested it on my unknowing hubby). Scents, apparently, go through the nose and can directly affect the brain.

I bought a diffuser and some aroma therapy oils with this in mind. They scented the room through steam. I have dull headaches most of the time but I started getting proper, painful headaches every evening. I stopped using the diffuser and they went back to normal dull headaches. Rosemary, Teetree, Eucalyptus, singly. Not what I expected at all. I didn’t have guidance on their healing properties though.

I'm not sure all of those are great in a diffuser. You would want guidance from an aromatherapist. The only headache-safe one I know off the top of my head is lavender and I have to say it doesn't seem to help me. I do like to use tea tree oil and lavender in the bath, though, when I have my Epsom salts soak. Just a few drops so it's extremely dilute. My headaches respond better to getting rehydrated and perhaps sleeping for a while, but not lying down. Not to mention aspirin. ;)

I am in the same situation but do not want to increase my prednisone. I am at 7mg. I have been taking some lorazepam also. It really helps. Now I am using Rescue Remedy like HeronNS has suggested. I thought I could just cut out the lorazepam but am finding I have to reduce that slower too. All of you help me sooooo much. Thank you.

Yes, I think if you've been taking lorazepam regularly, as I think were prescribed, you do have to wean off it. It's good to have some alternatives to help out during the weaning process. Good Luck! 🍀☘🍀☘🍀
