Well she did not win, but she showed up! And that's all my "monster" and I could have asked of her! Thank you all for the support and encouragement!
"Divine Gintervention" : Well she did not win, but... - PMRGCAuk
"Divine Gintervention"
What a shame, I'm sure she deserves to do better!!!
I award you the "gindividual" prize for endeavour! X
Yippiee!!!!!! We won!!!!! Thank you Pongo.
Love it!
Very truely Olympic...
(Fantasy. Punk Soprano belting out 'I did it my way'.) Super creation. Artists have to suffer setbacks! Judges!! Armoles!! KRO
One of my favourite Sinatra songs!
'Great' artists are often not recognised by their contemporaries - it's tough to be 'cutting edge' but more fun than a cliche !!

No truer words.... Rimmy. No truer word.
I just don't "get" art - but I prefer mamici's Gingervention to the average Picasso...
Wow! Cool. Thanks! You just got yourself put on the "Christmas List" to receive one of mamic1's * "Original GCA/PMR Mood Masks"
DISCLAIMER -
*please note these one of a kind, paper mache' mood masks are currently in the design/creation phase and we have no way of knowing what they will actually look like when "she that shant be named" gets done with them! You may or may not like your mask, but neither "she that shant be named," or mamici1 can be held liable. You will get what you get!
They say it is the taking part that's important.... but I still think you should have won!
Awe thanks...
Shame on the judges. Am I correct, this was your first foray into the creative world? All I will say is keep it up, you have a talent which should be let loose. Being creative, whether it’s painting, knitting, whatever appeals to your creative instinct gives a great sense of achievement. Generally it doesn’t take up too much of our depleted energy!
THANK YOU!!! Yes, you are correct! My first time doing paper mache' (head), as well! I was genuinely pleased with the way she turned out! : )
Watch this space: "Original mamici1 GCA/PMR Mood Masks" in design stage!
I can’t wait!
She won with us! 🏆
Awe... I see a mask in your Christmas Stocking!!!! hahahahahaha
🤶👍
One question: What happened to the gin?
GREAT QUESTION!!! I had to put it into an empty wine bottle because it was an almost full bottle of gin and just the though of drinking makes me queasy! : ( So if my husband goes to have a glass of red wine... won't he be surprised!!!!
Melissa I also meant to say I thought the 'name' 'Divine Gintervention' one of the best aspects of your creation - you do have an imaginative way with words - and who of our generation wouldn't have also thought of that rather eerie Alison Moyet track.
It makes me smile to think such competitions still exist - my 'hopeful' Mum often entered competitions (even the 'banal ' - guessing numbers of jellybeans in jars) and usually did very well. When I was 16 she won a 'Name the Lipsticks' competition in NZ with the prize of a Mini Minor car - with huge SPOTS on it - this was enough then for a half page article in the daily newspaper. The 'clever' thing was not so much the lipstick names but that she made them (about 18 or so ) rhyme in batches of three- if I recall some were like: 'Hit and Miss' 'State of Bliss' and 'Custard Kiss'.
Those 'mood masks' sound really marvellous ...

Thanks Rimmy! I loved her name too! Funny thing, I was a "Gin Virgin," until last year and I lost my "virGINity" to a G&T made with Brighton Gin and Fevertree Tonic. So now, that is the only gin I drink (when I drink) and when I have a choice! And BRUSH hair salon, is where I get my hair cut... so when I saw the competition poster, I had to enter, it was fated, even though I have NEVER entered an art competition before! She's a winner to me! ; )
Your Mom sounds amazing!!!!! She won a CAR?????? OMG! How amazing! At the time she won the spotty car, were you wicked proud of her or were you a teenager and embarrassed? : ) The lipstick batch names are FAB!!! And what a great marketing gimmick!!!! I would have to buy ALL three!!!!!!
YOU are definitely in line to receive a Christmas "Original mamici1 GCA/PMR Mood Masks," in fact your's will be the very first one I make!!! It may not be the best one (because I won't have all the kinks out) but it will be the most original, authentic and creative... just like YOU!!!

Oh Thank you Melissa - I can't WAIT for an original artwork created by YOU - and Ruth (my partner) says she 'deserves' it as well for having - especially lately to 'put up with me' (said lovingly of course !!) but who can blame her ....
I was HIGHLY embarrassed when my Mum's success appeared in the news - she actually 'said' and was quoted - that she had 'only entered to win a surfboard ('spotty' ones were runner-up prizes) for her 16 yr old daughter Della' !! Given that I was book-wormy - plump and anti any 'body' displays at the time - I was MORTIFIED - crawled under my blanket - and then had to fend off telephone calls from complete strangers wanting to 'escort' me somewhere - anywhere ...no surprises there !! Anyway I 'forgave' her of course - she was a wonderful creative - really quite 'beautiful' and intelligent woman who had been I am sad to say- cruelly abused by my wayward alcoholic father - but still managed to hold everything (for we four children) together !! In fact when she was advised she had won the car she assumed my father was making a rather horrid 'joke' - so I was actually very pleased she had one-upped him !! But MY rather 'naughty' phase started a couple of years later !
And yes of course you hit on an optimum factor in her win - the 'marketing' options it offered - she was ahead of the main game in the 1960's. Given this I am sure you will understand my ongoing indignance that she got (undiagnosed) GCA - losing much of her eyesight in the few happy years she might have had without my father ...

Ohhh, you just gave me a SPECTACULAR idea for you (and Ruth's mask!) Cheers!
Your Mom sounds fabulous!!!!! Sorry to hear she had to deal with your Dad's issues. It seems like her life was made much more difficult by what appears to be very fixable variables; perhaps staying with the wrong/difficult man and undiagnosed health issues. But, who knows... maybe her "monster" made her the wonderful, fun, loving, caring creative she sounds like she was?
And yes, I don't know why, but I had this vision of you in my head, hiding in your room, "crawled under a blanket," mortified by your Mom's new found celebrity status! Wouldn't you love a Mini Minor car, with huge SPOTS on it, today? I would!!!!
You're a "winner" in our eyes Melissa!!
Awwwww, thanks! ...and you get a mask! : )
Love all this xxxxx
