Started methotrexate 15mg weekly and folic acid everyday except day of MTX. Headache has got worse and worse and I have pain over the lower right side and back of chest. No remperature but feel terrible.i am also on prednisolone 10mg and Hydroxychloroquine. The plan was to get me off Pred which I have been on for 12 years. Bloods tomorrow, but I cannot take this anymore. Has anyone else had similar problems.

The evidence seems to be that methotrexate may help when started immediately (quote Prof Dasgupta at Southend) but not when added at a later date. Twelve years seems a bit on the late side...
How long have you been on the MTX? It can cause lung problems - I really think you need emergency medical attention. Like now.
Hydroxychloroquine Is another drug that may help when started earlier. Takes 3 months to improve the situation and has its own serious side effects. Time for a second opinion.
