Hi all,

I posted a few weeks ago feeling very indignant that I had been refused a dexa scan. I appealed against the decision and have received a letter today saying I will be given an appointment for the bone scan very soon. My GP had appealed too. Don’t give up if you are refused. It is worth fighting for.

Good for you polymy you are a force to be reckoned with. Fingers crossed that your bones are strong and you don’t have to take the dreaded AA.

Quite right too! It was indicated in his clinical opinion.

Dear polymy

Private Dexa Scans are reasonably inexpensive, Nuffield Health charge about £100.00 and providing you don't have problems lying on your back, though the nurses will provide pillows to raise your head and shoulders if you ask, it's not too bad. I get one every two years to check up on my Klinefelter's Syndrome/Steroid induced Osteoporosis and it's due in August 2018.

Regards

Colin

Good for you! I had to fight for mine last year too. Glad I did as it was better than my original one 2 years previously.
