Dosage for pm flareup of new GCA severe headache

Hi,

I have had flareup of intense headache from GCA in the evening, even after increasing am dosage of pred from 5 to 15 over 7 days. How can I manage the dosage for evening flareup pain? I am concerned because it involves the eyes now.

Diagnosed with PMR Feb 2017, started at 15 pred, decreased 7.5 by April, had May flareup PMR, June, Aug flareup .....not an even journey. Now have GCA symptoms over the last 7 days.

If you have symptoms of GCA but don't have a diagnosis of GCA then you need to see your GP or go to A&E today as an emergency.

The absolutely worst thing you can do is self treat with prednisolone.

You must contact your doctor asap - either your GP or at the ED. In fact, if you have any visual symptoms please go to A&E now - immediately and tell them your medical history. You have already waited far too long.
