These are links to 2 of the better online descriptions of PMR.

Although they both suggest it happens suddenly it can also creep up over weeks or even months, gradually getting worse. You don't have to have all the symptoms and some people my notice other problems - but in general they are good descriptions.

Hi, those are good links PMRPro sent to you. I also could not lift my arms above my head and had groin pain that made it hard to walk.

One morning I woke up to find it difficult getting out of bed because my legs ware so painful. Went to the doctors and they did a blood test and it confirmed that I had PM.

Took two years to recover and 1 got down to 1mg steroid then had trouble with chewing my food it was so painful again saw a doctor who knew straightaway and told me I had GCA (giant cell arteritis) so am still on Steroids 4years down the line. Luckily only had a enlarged Aorta and it didn't affect my eyes.

Hopefully you will only stick with the PM.
