What I'm about to seek guidance on, I'm not sure whether this has anything to do with my PMR. On Tuesday night I had a pain on my right foot on the outside under my ankle. Thought no more of it until I tried to walk on it on Wednesday morning. The pain was similar to that when you go over on your ankle. Couldn't see any swelling, foot wasn't hot, so I hobbled around on it all day yesterday. Through the night and this morning the pain is quite acute to the point I can hardly put the foot to the ground. On inspection, there is swelling below the ankle and its quite red. I have not in anyway done anything out of the ordinary to cause this and Im not sure what the next step should be. If I knew I had twisted the ankle, then fine I'll accept it and deal with it, but this is quite different

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I would definitely get to the doctors and have it checked. My hubby had a similar experience and it turned out to be gout, which is extremely painful. I hope your pain lessens soon.
Thanks for the reply, sorry I didn't respond yesterday, felt really awful. Your answer did make me investigate and in essence you were quite correct. I do suffer from gout but my last attack was over 15 years ago. I take Allorpurinal. I didn't for one moment think it was a gout attack until I looked on-line and it says you can get gout in your ankles. I tried to get an appointment with the doctor which was a complete waste of time....2 weeks the earliest and if the doctor has time today he might be able to phone you!!!!! So I decided to up my pred by another 3mg and I kept my leg up all day. This morning it's 100 per cent better and I think if I keep it up again to day I should be back to normal I'll reduce my pred back down to where I was in the coming week. Thanks everyone for the responses very much appreciated
You could quite easily have jarred it by stepping down hard. I'd get the GP to have a look - and even better, get it x-rayed,
I had a nasty bout of plantar faciitis, which feels like walking on a marble with my heel bone. Bugger, it was!! Your situation probably warrants trip to doc, and exam, X-ray, or whatever... the pain can really be wicked.
Good luck, let us know what u find. Jerri
