Just a query really - Has anyone else experienced quite bad shin pain while on Pred? I have it only in the left leg and at present am on 18mg, having just reduced from 19mg. Did have it though just before I reduced. Thanks.

Shin Pain
I did. Used to get it in both legs. Seems to have stopped now off Pred. (last dose 10 months ago and doing well)
yes. Having trouble making a fuller reply as getting booted off page.
Yes, Jackoh, the PMR made my legs it's main target. I still have shin pain now after all these years. The pain at the moment is not only manageable, it is fighting with a very large bruise for attention.
I know in many ways I've been unlucky, and those other patients who suffer with it find it is a temporary problem and disappears in time.
I have had PMR for over two years...and foot, let, San pain in my left leg for over a year and one-half.
I am all taped up with KT tape...it works wonders!
Yes, Jackoh, I went through a period of really painful shins (especially sensitive to touch). Like the odd rib pain that also appeared at one stage, it disappeared and never returned. Never came up with an answer for it but remember at the time wondering if fibromyalgia was joining in the 'fun'!
Thank you all for your comments- reassuring others have experienced this.
Yes, I did and Bowen Therapy sorted it all out as well as getting me out of a wheelchair, stopped using zimmer frame and then no walking stick unless ground is uneven.
Bowen has been discussed on this thread over the past few years. Use the search engine and read up on it.

Thank you Sambucca.
Mine was more often Charlie horses (cramps in the calf at night) but sometimes shins. I found adding foods with magnesium helped. Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and a few almonds for a snack. Once I got to 7mg I was fine again. Good luck
Thank you Toosore
Are you also on alendronic acid? While shin pain can be part of PMR (I had it without being on pred) shin splints can also happen when on AA so if it gets any worse ask your GP about it as you may need an x-ray to rule out a fracture. Needless to say - rest is part of the treatment but there are other things to help the discomfort.
Thanks for reply. No not on AA and has eased a bit the last two days- why??? may never know - but have continued with added magnesium and have had a few more foods with potassium. Will see how it goes but certainly just pleased it feels better.
