Minor issue?

I have never had any trouble with my hands or feet with PMR, but today, I have noticed that my right index finger is swollen and a little bit tender. My little finger on that hand developed a perfectly round,hard , little lump on the middle joint a week ago (still there). Should I be worried? does anyone know what this might be? Could it be RA?

I get that every so often, it is quite tender. Usually on my middle finger. My father, who is a doctor, said that I would have it for life, needless to say it went away again!

I have on a few occasions had painful hands, but mine were at the knuckles and the joints on the gingers. Every movement was painful. Dr Mackie said Leeds have done studies using MRI that shows pmr can affect hands. I increased my steroids by 1mg and it settled. Perhaps try a small increase.

Could it be ganglion cysts ? I often get what you describe in the joints of my fingers, mainly my thumbs, the small tender lumps stay for quite a while then disappear.

I have been getting them on and off for years.
