New Dr.

I am happy that I have been referred to a Rheumatologist.

My Dr. says he has done all he can and since I am in pain and exhausted as I taper off and now Sed. rate is back up maybe Rheumatologist can do more.

I hope so. He may just do the same thing. I feel that since this is a specialist he understands this PMR more than my Primary Care Dr.

The weather will be cooling down and those cold months are the worst. I live on a heating pad on my shoulders and neck. sleep on a electric blanket in winter.

Let's see if this winter will be less painful.

Celestee, I do hope your appointment with a rheumatologist will prove successful, and mainly that s/he will be knowledgeable about the need to not only find a suitable steroid dose that controls your symptoms, but maintains that dose for long enough before reducing and then tapers it very slowly, as it would seem that you have tapered far too quickly in the past, leading to continuing pain. I do hope you will soon be feeling much better.....and that winter will be kind to everyone!

If what you have is PMR then the only thing that will work is an adequate dose of pred - and long term. This isn't an illness you can deal with in the short term.

I do hope your rheumy is up to the mark.
