Hello Mythemm

Oh, poor you. You would be wise to get an urgent appointment this morning with your GP (over the telephone if you're too poorly to go out). If you're not keeping anything down, then the oral steroids will be no use - perhaps s/he may suggest injecting the steroids. I do hope you feel better soon. Meanwhile, arrowroot biscuits can help with any 'runs', and sports drinks can help with the sickness. Good luck and do let us know how you get on.

Thank you so much for your quick reply Celtic, it really helped knowing there was some one out there. It took me until Boxing Day but am now feeling much better. Luckily I was not being sick and when I spoke to my Doctor on Christmas Eve he advised that the predisolone would be absorbed. I did sleep a lot between bouts and felt very emotional when awake so I think I managed to just about absorb enough to get by! Not something I want to repeat in a hurry. Thank you again.

local pharmacy should be able to help - these things tend to run their miserable course over 24-72 hour period but you need some proper advice how to best handle things in the meantime. Wish you better soonest

Thank you, yes I did start feeling better after about 2 1/2 days. Not the best of time to be so ill but I was feeling better by Boxing Day. I was really worried about how my body would cope without the predisolone but I seem to have absorbed enough to get by and will give myself an extra few days before the next phased taper. It certainly is a constant learning process.

Thank you Trish, I have been on predisolone for 6 months, starting at 60mg now down to 20mg,for GCA. I am coeliac and have a long standing hiatus hernia and have always had problems with taking pills so when my Doctor put me on an emergency dose of 12 tablets a day I immediately asked if there was a soluble version - I was very glad to have that option this week. I started taking a re-hydrant after 48 hours and that also helped.
