Hi there, how very disappointing to get the aches and pains back now, but I see you have been under some stress for a while and now that it is resolved the inflammation is rising again. Not really surprising under those circumstances and I do think you should see your doctor again if only to record that you are having difficulties.

Not quite sure what you mean by ear problems - are you troubled with tinnitus? Or is it something else? As far as feet problems go, quite a number of us have problems ranging from fluid retention to tendon problems to just plain sore feet - I still get the feeling of 'walking on pebbles' quite a lot.

PMR is the very devil of a disease - you never know where it's going to hit next.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I just seem to have niggly earache and a feeling of a lump in the throat! I think the feet may be tendon problems. I spoke to my gp today,on the phone,he monitors me regularly. Sent me for another blood test..to check esr levels. Last time they were going down. So will wait and see! Its really reassuring to be able to check things out with the forum. As you say you dont know where its going next! Regards, Ann

Hi there, I actually limped for 6 months when PMR started. Then it settled down to just feet hurting all the time. Then was diagnosed with PMR and went on prednisone. It was heaven not to have sore feet. Tapering off prednisone and feet sore again. One thing I have learned is to wear lovely thick socks in good fitting shoes (yes, ugly but what the heck) as much as possible. And never, ever walk barefoot. So you have to 'budget' dress shoes and sandals.

As for sore ear, monitor closely as can be early warning for GCA.

And I have never had any bloodwork to support PMR diagnosis. Except that my rheumy says 5% of patients don't , but when they are given prednisone, pain vanishes in no time. That's how it was for me.

Not what you're looking for?

Hi, Does anyone know if I should have had a scan or xray after five years with GCA? Bloods are good is the standard answer to all questions!

I am on 3mg pred and 20 weekly of methotrexate. The fatigue and aching are always around even with...
