Hi Alena, In reading many posts I see tramodol gets mentioned for pain relief but I've not had it that i know of. Let us know on here if it gives you good relief and if there are any side effects. Thanks for sharing.

I noticed its very hard on the stomach too as are many pain medications. I wonder if PKD patients have chemical sensitivity that was suggest to me by a pain specialist. He said I should attempt to take plant based medicines. Nothing has been written on to my doctors about what he told me. Its been not followed through. I was very let down about it.

I noticed that the BP meds both past and present also affected my stomach. Now I suffer from constipation and intense bowel swelling and pain. so Im now taking Lactlouse for this and Movicol from the physician. My blood pressure tablets react to pain meds and make me dizzy sometimes enough to black out. So Ive had to stop pain meds all-together.

I found that earlier on BP meds created acid causing vomiting, bloating that I needed medication for. I had only panadol for pain then.

I also heard in an online chat sometime that some have been taken off the market as they can cause cancer. Just wondering if any of this ties in with patients as what we have is so rare and what patient histories may reflect some really relevant information and should be recorded somewhere I think on a global website for APKD'ers.

Cheers

Trish

I've just been prescribed blood pressure tablets, only a small dose for now to see how i get on. I haven't noticed any side affects yet they seem to be helping atm, my specialist won't prescribe me any pain medication just been told to work through it as best I can! Easier said than done lol.

I use tramadol and have no side effects from them, i suppose everyone is different. I used to use codeine but i find tramadol works much better.
