Welcome to the forum. PBC is a pain in the rear end but you will get a lot of information and support on this forum. You can also get information from the PBC Foundation. Most of the information will reassure you :-)

Hi there, I was diagnosed last May after 3 weeks in hospital with severe anemia and jaundice. My GP and Consultant were very concerned also. Once diagnosed however, I was put on various medications and monitored through blood tests and examinations first every two weeks, then it went to every month. At my visit before Christmas, my blood results were really good (for me!) and I only had to have my blood tested in a month and back to consultant in 2 months. After my latest visit last week, there is continued improvement, they are delighted with my progress. I need bloods done end of April but not back with Consultant until July. So. Be thankful they are concerned. They will look after you really well, the medications are brilliant and take all the support and help they offer you.

Hello barclay12.

Me too!!

I thought I was sound healthwise until I started with the itch in early 2010. Daignosed PBC Dec 2010. All I have currently with regards to PBC is the dreaded itch and on urso which I have to say I detest due to have to keep popping to the GP surgery at intervals for a repeat script as that has never been me at all in my life.

I don't actually think I'm classed as 'ill' and to be quite frank no-one around me who isn't in the loop as being informed I have PBC would never know at all currently as I am perfectly able to be like them, do as them. Evenings can be a different thing, I start getting fidgety due to itching but by that time I'm locked up for the night!

Not sure if you have started urso but if you have, from my experience of starting Dec 2010, it has actually taken 2yrs for me to feel almost 100% like I used to do so it can take a bit of time.
