Hi I have an enlarged spleen which has grown by a few cm over the last few years, told it is not unusual and it is monitored 6monthly. I also have nodes growing around gall bladder and liver again told this was normal and they just check size and bloods? Bit worrying at first but I have 6 monthly scans so I just hope that anything more abnormal gets picked up. I know it can be distressing, just make sure you ask questions about anything that you are not sure about or that concerns you.

Hi. I have an enlarged spleen and questioned my dr about it. He said that is normal with PBC. Unfortunately, unless I say something, he won't tell me. Hopefully, because worrying makes things worse. As for ascites, it happens with PBC, too. That is listed as a side effect. Little must be the key word so try not to stress out about it. That's what is looked for when testing is done so if it gets worse, you'll know. Be sure to keep up with getting checked every 6 months.

Good luck. It's hard, but try not to worry and take care.

Wow, i didnt know u could have acites or varies that early. My son passed, but he had cirrhosis from drinking. The dr had gave him 3 months and he lasted a year and 6 mo. 5 yrs ago. Im in stage 2. My last check up for checking stages was 2015. I take regular bld. Tests, but finding out , it dosent matter if they are normal. Everyone is so different. Thank you for the feed back

Its to bad we have the pbc, but what is hard, all the other auto immune stuff that comes with it. I also have fibromyalgia, celic, joint pain and the big tiredness, brain fog. Sometime when i can think, its tiring. But what we gonna do.. we all have each other to talk to.

Hi Bobbycat, glad Dr is monitoring you ,not happy that consultant keeps cancelling. Hope repeat U/S being done to follow up ascites, whether it's disappearing or staying the same, etc. Maybe ask monitor Dr if any dietary changes need to be made? Like lower sodium? Don't know where in world you are, but maybe ask monitor Dr if he can recommend another liver specialist for either a second opinion or perhaps being your new 'accessible' specialist, if there is no good reason for appointments being cancelled. Best wishes.
