Urso for me has improved the quality of life. As I understand it, the breaking down of the toxins in the liver and acting as a 'flush' as now stopped the dreaded itch but it took a long time to get the dosage right, (which is according to each individual). I would like to say that many of us Do experience a little weight gain when taking urso and it seems to be accepted and expected but its a small price to pay when our skin is still intact and itch free. My own personal opinion.

Just a thought as the dose of Urso is based on weight when one loses a couple of stone should we reduce our dosage? Maybe a question for the medics.

Those of you with whom Urso didn't agree. I would be interested in this. Urso's job is to flush bile out of the system. It really only has one mechanism for doing this, therefore the runs can be a short term feature of taking Urso. It may well be that instead of "Urso not agreeing with you", that it may actually be serving its function within the body.

Hi, I was prescribed Urso when diagnosed in 2008. It was fine for a couple of days, then my system completely seized up, basically I could not move my bowels for over a week, and this was every time I tried to take Urso. I have since been diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and seemingly it is that, that stops me tolerating Urso.

I have been on Urso since August 2011 and don't feel up nor down with it. Had a bit of diahorea for a couple of weeks when I started it but that settled down. My consultant reconed that because the diahorea settled down it was probably more to do with my IBS than the Urso.

The Urso has definitely made my aches and pains worse, and I have a rash on my forehead that seems to be new since taking it. At first the Urso seemed to cause GI upset upon taking it, but, that has seemed to subside. For the time being my itching seems to be under control....

Started on the capsules - I had a delayed reaction with hives after about 4 months. Now take tablets and no problems at all. Blood counts were all down except bilirubin... More bloods this week so hope it continues.

I take 250mg x4 URSO tablets in the morning. My side effects are dizziness for the first couple of hours (to the point that I have to lay down) and then slight lightheadedness throughout the rest of the day. Another side effect is gurgling stomach for the day. Also occasionally little bit of nausea, but this is tolerable. I had tried to spread out the dosage throughout the day, but this just made me feel terrible for the whole day. I find it better to take all at once and just be out of commission for a couple of hours.
