I have an app on my phone that alerts me when it should be visible, but almost every time, its cloudy and raining. The one time it was clear, my neighbours were happily snapping away and posting wonderful photos on facebook, while I was tucked up in bed - because I forgot to check my phone before retiring 🤣

we’ve got the southern hemisphere version - Aurora Australis - happening a lot here at the moment. I’ll see if I can get a photo tonight!

Thanks - that's really lovely, Nackapan . I have been listening to the weather forecast, running from the back door to the front door and back again at every mention of the aurora borealis - and saw nothing.

I have only ever seen a white version of it - in Norfolk, almost 50 years ago - in the middle of the night. I was working on a holiday camp at the time and was in my dressing gown, walking down to the toilet at the end of our block. Thought I was dreaming, so woke up all the other staff in the block, just to make sure I wasn't !

Doubt if we even knew what it was at the time, just stood there with dropped jaws looking at it.

Would love to see the colour version. I'll keep trying !

Some of them can only be seen with long exposure photos. You can sometimes get it with your phone, if you adjust the night settings
