please help me I have B12 + folate + ferritin deficiencies but being given B12 injections should have been 12 weekly but was more 20 weeks plus they would not do anything because of my folate and ferritin was abnormal this been left with 5 abnormal blood tests every time bloods was done even now after being prescribed in January this year 12 weeks of folic acid and iron tablets did not work and levels went lower

My Gp told me that don’t matter how bad I feel and all the symptoms I have he won’t do anything and told me he wants to do the same tablets course done in January even know I have gastrointestinal problems that stops me absorbing and now I been diagnosed with abnormal iron haemoglobin and more

won’t help at all

Hi,

Sorry to read you're struggling to get treatment.

Have you considered joining and talking to PAS (Pernicious Anaemia Society)?

You do not need a PA diagnosis to join.

pernicious-anaemia-society....

PAS membership is separate from membership of this forum.

There are three categories of membership.

pernicious-anaemia-society....

PAS website has lots of useful leaflets including "Helpsheet for Patient-GP Discussion".

Some PAS members print them out and pass them to GPs.

PAS members can use a members' helpline.

B12info.com is a website run by a UK campaigner on B12 deficiency issues.

It has lots of helpful info.

I left a detailed reply in the thread below. It has some links for those struggling to get treatment.

One option is to learn to self-inject (or have someone inject for you). If you are feeling really crappy, it would be wise to try every other day until you feel good again. It would be good to also make sure you get enough of the other vitamins.
