Hi Clara5672

I'm the other way round. I was "started" on cyano every four weeks way back in 1972 (so that's 49 years ago) but when hydroxo was generally introduced in the mid 1980s I had a very allergic reaction to it and was put back onto cyano which I now have every three weeks.

I guess we are all different and some ingredient or other will affect us more than others.

I am not a medically trained person and I wish you well

there isn't any clear answer - it varies from person to person. On average people retain hydroxo twice as long as cyano but in the studies that got to this result there was a lot of variation and some retained cyano longer than hydroxo so all you can really do is keep an eye on symptoms and use that to determine the frequency.

Thank you gambit62. I'm at my whitts end to be honest. I si hydroxy eod and the beginning of the week I felt like I could run a marathon. So much energy and good mood. Yesterday I si and I feel I could sleep for a week. Hence the reason I'm wondering if I should try cyano. I'm only 4/5 months into si, but I'm wondering will I ever get my energy levels back up. Other symptoms are easing I'm glad to say

there are a lot of things that can affect energy levels - you could be having an off day. Some people find that they feel tired for a day or so after an injection. I don't think there is any point in trying a different type of cobalamin if you responded when to the hydroxo originally. You might also want to get thyroid levels checked in case it is something to do with that.

Hi Clara. I was on the cyanofor about 6 months via my gp. I developed some kind of itchy rash after a while. I decided to switch the methyl B12 when I started to self inject. It took quite a while for the itchy bumps to disappear. Then many months later I took a dose of the cyano because I ran out of the methyl and within a couple of days I had the itchy rash come back and it took again some time for it to go away even though I only had one dose of it.
