If you have had neurological damage, the recovery is very slow. Months and years.

The myelin sheath can sometimes be repaired but if the axon in the nerve is damaged there is no repair and the damage is permanent.

Start a logbook and assess a severity score each day to your symptoms. This is an effective way to monitor especially if you also have short term memory loss.

Also you need to stimulate the nerves that need to be repaired. Gentle range of motion exercises help get the muscles working but more importantly stimulate the nerve repair. Swimming is good.

Are you supplementing with folic acid and a daily multivitamin? B12 needs these to support metabolism.

You may think things are getting worse before they get better. This is because nerve repair may give the illusion to the brain that the pain is worse. This is actually a good sign that the signals to the brain are stronger and the nerves are being repaired.

I’ve been doing this for ten years are have seen improvements in the legs and hip where i had nerve damage.

Also stress and worry consume B12 and the logbook gives you some control back that what you are doing is moving things in the right direction. But stick with it for a fortnight before changing things up.

Ailidhgrace, This forum is a support forum. Most users are based in the UK so the timing of your post meant that most would be asleep. I have closed down your other posts so replies can be consolidated on a single post.

It would help people to help you if you could say a bit more about yourself, eg how frequently you are receiving shots, how long ago you were diagnosed and what your symptoms are.

How long a symptom takes to resolve depends on what exactly is causing it. B12 is used by a number of systems in the body and there are a number of things that can go wrong. In some cases there will be damage that will need to be healed and this will take time. Other problems can resolve quite quickly. Some things (aches, pains and infections) can actually seem to get worse for a while before resolving.
