Giving up with doctors

So, I was diagnosed with PA almost 2 years ago and my symptoms never really went away. Last year I started getting really bad wrist and hand pain so I went to see my GP about that and my symptoms that never went away. I got sent away with hand exercises. They never worked so I spoke to my GP again and got laughed away. So I gave up . Fast forward to 4 months ago I start getting this pain in my left side and having a family history of kidney problems I thought it was worth being checked out. I go to the GP who says it's nothing to worry about and has the cheek to ask me why I missed a podiatrist appointment 4 years ago. He's more concerned about the appointment I missed 4 years ago than kidney pain. I walked out. I had an idea that I could change GPs to one in the village my dad lives in and register at his address. Got told I couldn't change cause my current practice covers that area. I give up. I'm still PA symptomatic (fatigued, confused, legs are numb etc), I can't hold a mobile phone right because of pain in my hands and wrists, I have no appetite but I'm not losing weight, I still have the pain in my side, I can't even go out in 15 degree c weather without getting some sort of hear rash, and feel like I have no where to turn. Luckily enough the I get my injection from a community treatment nurse and not by my GP practice so I still get that every two months for all it barely world. Anyone else in the same position as me? Anyone else given up with their GP? Sorry for the somewhat rant, needed to vent.

:)

Hi there - your story sounds the same as mine - in fact identical. I lost one of my kidneys because of doctors neglect - he let me suffer with the pain in my kidney for ten years and when i went private to Parkside hospital in Wimbledon - i was admitted within a few day and the kidney and adrenal gland was removed - my kidney had been dead for four and a half years is what the surgeon told me and i now have CKD - but i have never been followed up by any GP's and i have been told that i am at stage three/four kidney disease now. I was diagnosed with Pernicious anemia nearly six years ago - but it got ignored - i have not had a doctor since last December as i argued with them about my health and i cannot get another doctor as i am not in any of their catchment areas - i too have numbness in my hands and legs and terrible cramp - sweating and then freezing cold especially my feet - no appetite - in fact i lose some weight and then put it back on again - i have tried self injecting but i cannot do it as i have osteoarthritis and my thumbs are so painful that it makes it impossible. I told the GP that i would not be going back to the surgery and i have not - i would rather be without than trust my health to a quack who thinks he is a doctor. The short time i was with this particular doctor i was never given a blood test or an Asthma test or a COPD test and my fybromyalgia was ignored - i was very ill for ten weeks and all they did without seeing me was to get the chemist to deliver antibiotic to my home. So i wish you luck in getting help as i have tried everything from Healthwatch England - NHS England - CCQ - Age concern and my MP all to no avail. Please let me know how you get on. I am having a Short Synacthen test next week to see how my cortisol is doing - once again it is private as i have no GP. Take care - god bless x
