My legs and arms feel like I been weight lifting all week! Hopefully this is a sign something is working!? I have my 5th shot today, already feeling anxious that I feel no better and only 1 more shot Monday!! Spoke to doc bout this says no time can be given can be weeks to months so frustrating but understandable at same time. I can't sleep due to it all going on in my head, I can't help but think if this was picked up 6 months ago wen it first showed level 138 but nothing was done.... I may not be where I am today! Level 93

Hi there,

Sorry you're feeling bad, see my latest post on my side effects and progress after 1 month of loading shots, just like you I had awful muscle pain and didn't feel any improvement until nearly 4 weeks later. Infact I felt much much worse for about 7-10 days, then the brain fog and physical pain started to lift. Take heart! it's seems it's pretty common to feel even more rubbish before feeling better. Now treatment has started things can only improve, part of the worsening of symptoms is your body doing a rapid heal (called a 'healing crisis'), our bodies are amazing and can heal even after years of deficiency given the right medicine :-) Stay strong and be kind to yourself , please post when things improve for you xx

Hi Glitterbug83 as @OSK says it is not uncommon for some symptoms to appear to get worse before they get better as the B12 starts repairing the damage done to your nervous system and your brain starts getting multiple messages from part of the body it had "forgotten about" or lost contact with.

I sometimes liken it to a badly tuned radio on which you have turned the volume up high trying to catch the programme you want when all of a sudden the signal comes in loud and clear and the blast nearly deafens you.

A lot will depend on the severity and longevity of your B12 deficiency as to how long before there is no further improvement or recovery. Some symptoms will "disappear" quite quickly whereas others may take months or even years. There is no set timescale as we are all different.

If you can get to see a doctor please also ask him/her to check your Folate level as this and B12 help your iron to make red blood cells and to function properly.

I'm not a medically trained person but have had P.A. for more than 45 years and I'm still "clivealive" at over 75.

I wish you well
