Trying to remain positive....,

Hello,

I am not really sure what to write. I have had PA for many years but Drs (lived abroad) would not give me shots.

I came back to the UK and Dr helped - level is 177 and gave me the shots.

I believe they have helped - I didn't really admit how sick I was if I am honest. I just wanted to be normal and sure it's only a vitamin right ! People just take tablets. I know now how foolish that is.

A major side affect for me tho has been this 'overnight acne' which is still coming, is sore and is leaving scars - I can't leave the house at this point - so I do feel better but now this... Please this is severe not just a few spots.....

I just wondered if anyone had any advice ? I have a very kind person trying to help me as they know the state I am in, but I dont want to be a burden. Was just wondering if anyone had the same and what they did.

Thanks allot :)

It isn't a problem I have had but it is one that is well known. For most people it does eventually die down.

Possible causes could be a reaction to one of the consitutents in the shots you are receiving

Another possibility is, ironically, that it is actually a sign that things are healing - and your immune system has gone into overdrive - reacting all at once to things that have been building up for years and trying to get rid of them all at the same time - which is where the dying down comes in.

However, I realise that doesn't do anything to alleviate the immediate situation. Have you talked about it with your GP. eg you could try an antihistamine - though some of those can affect ability to use B12 so may be a bit of a balancing exercise. They may have other suggestions about how to calm the reaction.

Thank you for your reply.

My GP has given me lymecycline.

I hope this works.

Cheers 😊

lymecycline is an antibiotic so important that you complete the course that you have been given even if you feel things have improved - hope you read the info that came with it - lots of potential side-effects - and follow up with GP or pharmacist if any of the nastier ones materialise - though they should be very rare.

Hope it works.

Hi Catherine,

Hope you ‘re well .

I had similar side effect 3 years ago when I started my b12 injection after I had 5 injection in 2 weeks , my face was all covered with horrible acne , red patches which will remain on my face every time , it is depressing.

I was prescribed lymecycline to take for 1 month or 2 I can’t remember but after taking it , it cleared up and never had acne but now I had full blood test checked my b12 , it was low so ,due to this covid -19 , they couldn’t do all 5 injection in 2 weeks .

I had 3rd injection till now in every month interval , after third injection again I have horrible acne exactly the same like I had 3 years ago after I had the b12 injection .

I am going to insist dr to prescribe me the antibiotic again .

I am having blood test done to check the b12 level just worried , what if the 2 more dose of injection will make my acne more worst ? , will lymecycline help it again ?

How was yours result ? Any ideas please .

Warm regards,

Maya

Hi Maya, how has your skin been since the injections? Did lymecycline help clear it up. Have you had to have anymore injections? Thanks x
