Just a thought----- but why?

Parkinsons can be so debilitating with this lack of go, and energy, tiredness stiffness etc..

I wonder why is it that most of the drugs seem to exacerbate the problems instead of giving us a boost?

I dont want to run a marathon, but a nice walk would be wonderful without feeling like I am sleep walking.

I find c-l dopa gives me a boost... I definitely go down in all respects when it wears off.

Yes me too, I get a nice cosy glow for about 4 hours but especially for about an hour, one hour after taking a dose.

So do I go down and often an hour before the next dosage which is 4xs day round the clock. Some days c-l dopa does not work for me.

I am having a reverse effect with my meds. My tremor appears to get worse when I take my meds. In fact, at the moment ir very rarely gives me a break. Also, the pain and cramps on my tremor side have worsened. I am supposed to be going to London shortly for a couple of nights for a family party, but don't know whether I will be able to go. Ain't life fun!!

How long have you had Parkinsons? My husband has had it for 15 years and in 2004 he had dbs(deep brain stimulation) it has almost cleared him of his dykinesias maybe if you have a Parkinsons nurse and have had Parkinsons for more than 5 years it would be worth asking about it.

I have had it for 6 years and asked about DBS but was told I did not need it. However, will ask again as I have a new consultant who, I hope, may have a different take on things Or at least be able to suggest something to control this tremor..

It's a pleasant thought going for a brisk walk...I wouldn't mind and little energy added to our pills :)

I take no meds..had pd for 4 years. Have energy in the morning but flag walking up hills..however slight an incline..and flag mid afternoon. If i go out in the evening i feel whacked and nervy the next day. if weather is windy and rainy or any stress then symptoms are worse.

Sorry i am taking mucuna pruriens..no difference really with it acter a month. Maybe a bit happier. I take omega 3 s co enzyme q 10 , a homocysteine formula. 1000gm vit c and zinc sulphate. Sometimes i add other supplements according to need and drink 1 and half litres of bottled water each day. And do exercises!..stretches etc..

Most of the time I feel I am not on meds as they don't seem to be helping this darn tremor. Maybe I should come off them and try it your way. Have an appointment with my GP tomorrow so will see what advice she can offer.

I dont have the answers myself but I believe we have got this way, if its not hereditary through toxicity and childhood trauma. If we can find a way of dealing with that there,s a chance I think of recovery.

I do not trust major drug companies who are only interested iin easing symptoms not finding cures..research seems to be centred on that ..which causes other damage in the body. My view!

Most people with Parkinson's have an under active thyroid that causes a lack of energy. Have yours checked.

I make myself go for a walk every day whether I feel like or not usually NOT with a 4 wheel walker. I learned in a walking training class for pwp that I can & feel better & overall strength improved. In NYC have to ask strangers for help. :D. Good for them & for me. <3 Pat

I walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes a day. For sure I'm slow and I have to have my husband on a treadmill next to me but I manage to get the job done, I'm afraid if I don't do it daily I might not be able to do it at all. :-(

I find that the more i run and/or racewalk per week, the more total energy I have inspite of the meds and PD - when I have to take a day or two off from exercise I actully have much less energy. Then the 1st couple of days back exercising I am also drained.

No way to know what to expect, I have more energy than I have in a long time. That just started, I take requip 3 times a day,and azilect once. Before the azilect and just the requip I could barely do anything, all I wanted to do was sleep. I generally at most have mild tremors, but they seem to be increasing. I have a lot of cramping in both hands, feet, and legs.

I had horrible cramping in my lets, feet and arms. started taking Requip at night and it helped but didn't totally get rid of the pain. I am now taking Requip XL 6 mg and I have very little pain and sleep like a rock. Good luck!

Azilect you feel is doing you good or very good? I was on Azilect but when I went into the donut hole and found out the RX was $900 I stopped taking it.

Pretty good insurance, my normal co-pay for it is 15.00 per month, but I've met my deductable for the year, so it costs nothing. In fact I don't pay for any prescriptions for the rest of the year. If I had to pay for all my meds, I couldn't do it. Something really needs to be done about the costs.

im doggy sitting for few weeks so this makes me get out and walk, plus i have friend who makes me go for the walk that we have done for yrs every sunday down the beach. which in scotland is not always easy, ok its a gossip session.. but i agree i havenot energy and the weight is pilling on. is it the meds or my lack of energy...

..

One of the pleasures of walking is walking with a friend, I do think it helps.

The gossipy bit is also nice as it helps take our minds off other things.
