Does anyone know if doing Meth can cause ... - Cure Parkinson's
Does anyone know if doing Meth can cause PD????
I am not a Dr, but I did serve of the Meth Lab entry team on a Narcotics task force where we were taught how meth is made and how it affects the brain.. Meth does work on the nervous system and can cause paranoia and other problems in the brain. Since Meth is a street drug, it can be made a number of ways,(the fumes can be explosive and toxic) Red devil lye and other caustic and poisonous chemicals are used in the processing....so my best guess would be YES!
I believe there is a form of Parkinson's Disease that is brought on by hard drugs, narcotics, of course I also read that red heads and the Amish are more prone to develop Parkinson's Disease than other groups.
There have been studies that show cocaine abuse can increase the chances of acquiring PD and a neurologist once told me that he believes the increase of people with early onset PD can be attributed to drug abuse in many cases.
I've heard that doing meth can mangle your soul. I sometimes wonder how The Party Years has effected us. In hindsite I think that we might have been doing collateral damage without knowing it.
Inane reply of the day:
HEADLINE: Scientist from the mid west United States are desperately seeking answers as to why thousands of blackbirds fell dead from the sky last new year's eve.
In a possibly related story the next plague expected by experts is Red-haired Amish Tweakers suddenly staging flash mobs of rampant shakiness! Film at 10!
srarndt, love it!
I think it would make a great film as long as the cameraman does not have PD. The blurring would give me a headache and I may turn to alcoholic substances that I keep in the garage to calm myself down.
I'm sure if you asked The National Lottery in UK they would fund the film after viewing some of the other crap they have sponsored. Cannot recall them funding any research into chronic medical issues though!
Ah well, shit happens.
Nice bike by the way.
I too would like to know the answer to this question. About a year ago less than a quarter of a mile down the street from me was a METH LAB BUST - could smell it on their dogs even -
Just a note of coincidence, I worked as a hazardous materials tech for our state for 20 years. I developed PD a few years after I responded to numerous incidents of meth lab busts. ?????
Victor..did you wear breathing apparatus and protective gloves, bio suit etc?
We were required to.because of the dangerous chemicals associated with Meth labs. The techs that came to dispose of the stuff were always in full gear.
