📣 Discussion Topic: What are your strategies for keeping a healthy sleep routine with pancreatitis?
Making sure I have plenty of vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin D.
Not getting over tired.
Sleeping on my right side if my pancreas is in any way grumpy.
I listen to radio podcasts of comedy and science shows on my phone, which turns off once I'm asleep.
Eating something, especially carbohydrates, sends me to sleep.
Not having mental hangups about things.
Over the years my cats have somehow learnt to come and keep me company when I need to go to sleep. They sit with me and purr gently until I drop off, before then slipping silently away, so as not to wake me.
If necessary I'll take ibuprofen, if I can, when I need to sleep.
I like to read or watch a Netflix show (in bed) to unwind and then, just before turning out the light, I turn on sift easy listening music on my playlist (iTunes). It works for me. 😊
Take my famotidine before bed and turn on YouTube videos of ocean waves or cozy rooms with rain sounds very soothing and sleep inducing with lots and lots of pillows to prop up on.
I'm fortunate that I sleep well and it's a problem I don't have. I have no ritual except I spray my pillow with a lavender mist.
