Hello,
I have had problems with vomiting after fatty food since childhood, and several occasions over the years when severe pain, steatorrhoea and reaction to even small amounts of alcohol made life difficult. But 6 months ago I had a bout of acute pancreatitis, which has become chronic. Tests for elastase are OK, scans and gastroscopy show no malignancy. I have lost 20% of my body weight and am now size 8. Apart from a dietitian appointment, no follow up has been pursued by my GP practice. I have requested a test for diabetes, and started purchasing enzymes five months ago, which have stabilised my weight. At 70 years old, I feel fortunate that I have escaped hospitalisation. But, as I have hypothyroidism, and was told I had Sögren's 20 years ago, I wonder whether autoimmune factors are involved. Has anyone else had success in getting a diagnosis, and, if so, did successful treatment ensue? Thank you.
