I missed you!

Sorry, I haven't been around for a while. We had a bit of an emergency last Friday. My husband had been complaining of a floater in his right eye. Then last Wednesday, he woke up with a blurry eye. By Friday he couldn't see out of that one. So we rushed to the eye doc where they said he had a detached retina with a tear.

They sent us to the surgeon. In KC which is about an hour away. It was 2:30 Fri. afternoon. He couldn't drive.

I'm a good driver, but I haven't driven but to town and back (15 min away) for the last 10 years. Because of the meds I'm on, we've just avoided me driving. So to say I was out of practice is an understatement. But forge on we did.

We got there and they decided it could wait til Monday (by then 4:15 pm)

He got the operation on Monday and it went well. Back to KC again on Tues. to remove the patch

Back next Mon. for a 1-week check.

All he's been able to see is an oil-slick blur. But this morning he woke up and said, "Hi! I can see you. Well, your outline anyway."

So that's promising. :)

I'm exhausted. Trying not to show my stress level. I can only imagine his.

If you don't hear from me for a day or two, it's because I'm sleeping it off. LOL

Hope yours days have been better ♥

Dear Karen, I’m sorry to read your message! That all sounds very stressful for both you and your husband! Goodness, I would have been besides myself waiting over the weekend to get that sorted! I’m glad it’s been sorted now and that your husband is beginning to at least see your outline again! Must feel really scary for him! I hope the driving goes ok again next Monday!

Dee x

Sending you some flowers to say thinking of you 💐

That must have been incredibly scary for you both. I'm glad to hear that it all seems to have gone well xx

How are things going for you LeopardGecko?

I have just arrived at the hospital waiting for an ultrasound scan. They can’t figure what’s wrong…pain under left breast bone, nausea and 3 stone weight loss. Apparently they don’t think it’s my pancreas? I’m not convinced!

Anyway, hope you’re doing ok?!

Dee 🌸

I'm OK thank you. Husband's sugar levels have been a bit crazy lately. Not sure if he needs to rethink what he is eating or whether something else is causing issues. I suppose diabetes is always a bit of trial and error really (especially when there is some pancreas still trying to do it's job).

I hope they manage to work out what is causing all the problems for you soon so that you can start to make things better xx

Diabetes is a tricky one sometimes! …that’s a bit like mine…my pancreas is basically done in but every now and then it seems to manage to squeeze out a little bit of insulin so to speak, so sorting my insulin is quite difficult sometimes.

I have forgotten if your husband is on insulin?

Thank you for your kind words too. Yes, it’s feeling quite frustrating as it’s been going on for quite some while now and I still feel none the wiser. I have an appointment with my nephrologist soon…I also have chronic kidney disease, so will see what his thoughts are.

Take care and I hope you have a good week. Chat soon, Dee 🌸

Yes, he is on insulin. I think the bit of pancreas he has left must contribute insulin from time to time just to make things more difficult! He is slowly getting to grips with judging how much he needs etc.

Hopefully you're feeling a bit better now and get some answers soon x
