How does anyone say goodbye to someone so crucial in your life. How do you ever let go and move forward?

The simple answer is time...I've lost both my parents now, Mum in 2001 and Dad 2010. I still miss them just as much today as I did at the beginning, the only difference is that I don't cry every day for them.

You move forward because you have to, life goes on as they say. I suppose in the beginning you're on automatic pilot, going through the motions and grieving when you stop...which is when the thoughts turn to them. As time goes by, you don't stop missing them, but those days are less. I find it's "special" days such as birthdays, Mothers and Fathers Day, Christmas and family occasions where I miss them most. Or days when I would have turned to either of them for help and support or advice; even when I hear a song that reminds me of them.

What I'm trying to say is that you never stop missing someone who was such a huge part of your life, you just learn to live with it...in time!

We're all great believers in the afterlife and I know that I get signs they're both with me from time-to-time. A smell or a robin in the garden when I've asked them for my sign is usually what I get.

It isn't goodbye, just see you later...

You're welcome Julie, hope it helped and that your mum isn't suffering too much at the moment. Treasure every second with her, which I'm sure that you don't need telling to do.

Take care
