MRK003 is in the experimental stages which is a medication combined with chemo medication gemcitabine which is supposed to destroy the malignant cells - have you heard anything about this? I was going to mention it to the Oncologist on Tuesday. Thank you so much for replying

MRK 003 is a trial drug that was found to be effective at destroying pancreatic cancer cells when in combination with gemcitabine in mouse models. There is now a small patient trial in Cambridge (about 60 or so patients) which is run by Cancer Research UK - not sure if they are recruiting

Hello and so sorry to hear that your partner has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Del has answered your question well, so I won't go any further. As she says, the group on Facebook is great, I started it because I lost my own dad to PC in 2010, we have almost 200 members and it's a welcoming and supportive place! Take care x

I lost my beloeved husband to this cruel disease on the 7th April after being admitted to hospital with what we were told was gallstones. He died 3 weeks later. I speak to my family and friends who have been so supportive but I wonder how I go about the site on Facebook. I am a member on facebook but have no idea how to find friends who are ging through the same. Can you help me please.

So Sorry to hear about you Partner's diagnosis. My husband was diagnosed in December 2011. Had a Whipple operation in January but unfortunately the cancer was round an artery so the surgeon was unable to remove the tumour. My husband is having gemcitibine chemotherapy and has one bad day after the chemo but other than that not too bad a reaction to it and we are praying it will give him a longer life. His chemo marker levels in his bloods have already come down from 197 to 168 so we are hopeful that this is good news but we won't really know until a further CT scan is taken after 3 months of the chemo. A quick question to Dell - what chemo is your Mother receiving?

Hi, my mum was on GEMCAP, but it has stopped working after 5 months of treatment so yesterday mum has started a new one called 5FU, so were hoping this slows down the lesions on her liver, she's had a pump fitted, del x
