As an ex-TENS user I can safely say I never got addicted to it. I was told by the pain clinic not to have it on constantly and to have breaks ie switch it off after so long, so my brain didn't get too used to it, otherwise it wouldn't be effective.

Hello Teardrinker

Several years ago I heard this, from a patient in hospital, they kept it on and liked the pain, I have was taken aback, still interested, i cannot imagine it I suppose it must be like a drug

All the best

It is an electrical current, you can not get addicted to it. The fact that people like the smaller pain of the current is simply because it blocks the bigger pain that their bones or muscles give them at the time. Less pain is simply better then a lot of pain. Tens is not a drug, therefore you can not get addicted to it in a physical way. You can get addicted to it like some people like a good massage. That is mostly what it is.

Hi Bob, I used a tens machine and it felt good when I had it on but gave no long term relief. I mean not at all, when I took it off the pain was right back. I have given it to my daughter.I am at the stage now where i am having to accept this condition and unless there is a miracle cure out there, learn to live with it. Ann

Hello

When I was at a course on treatments for arthritis they suggested that you use the tens for three hour periods I them confirmed this at a pain clinic as they understood that the machines need longer to work on chronic pain. I find a difference doing that, changing the modulations every thirty minuets until the three hours are up, I find better results doing that so try it. We all should not suffer if there is a way out. After the three hours change the pad locations and start again, this prevents tens burn on the skin. keep the strength down so you just feel it and increase the frequency rate

All the best

Love my Tens machine. It is utter bliss when on bad days I can Shift the pain from one site to another via little pads and large amounts of electric shock.

Interestingly enough people who are into S and M can buy something similar. When I stumbled across that piece of useless info it gave me a fit pf the giggles. So you can sort of see why one might form an addiction to it. I can only envy those that can equate pain wiv pleasure !!!!!!!

Morning Nedd

Well what they say, get the whips out

All the best

Whilst I really like my machine, I wouldn't call it an addiction
