Did anyone had shingles in back passage and developed postherpetic neuralgia? If yes, then what kind of symptoms did you experience and how long did it last? If you could describe your symptoms I would be very grateful thanks and best wishes from Margaret

My husband has/had ophthalmic shingles a few weeks ago and has been in the most horrendous pain in the right side of his head and eye since. We believe he has developed postherpetic neuralgia but are waiting for a diagnosis. He is currently on the maximum dose of Gabapentin but it doesn’t seem to be helping- we are at our wits end. Sorry not much help for you except to say you are not alone - hope things are a bit better for you now.
I got shingles when I was 7 years old now 27. It started on the right side of my chest and spread to my back near my spine. The best way I’ve been able to describe to people what I’m feeling is that I feel like rubber. It’s more irritating than painful (thankfully). I’ve lived with that sensation for most of my life and have tried explaining that to doctors but nothing has been done. As of this last year it has turned into parts of my body going numb and tingling and being able to track it moving along what ever body part it’s in usually my hands (either one) and more recently my lips/face. I’ve also experienced my vision going out in the same way. I’m not sure if that is a secondary thing from shingles.
