Tramadol is very good but the Side effect for me is that it makes me feel like I'm walking on space.

And it also give me bladder and bowel problems.

It's an opiate.

It has many side effects- but they usually wear off after a while ( months)

I experienced insomnia and itching. I switched to Oxycontin - had the same result but stuck with it and now no side effects. The main problem I have is that they don't last 12 hours and I think I am tolerating them- which means they dont do the job they were originally designed to do - kill pain.

Cheers

You must be taking the time released Oxtcontin. I really like the Eucerin Calming Cream for itching. It doesn't help with pain, but the oatmeal in it is soothing.

Tramadol is an opiode which means it is synthetically made (unlike the opiate which is made from the poppy)

While not containing codeine it does have similar effects and can be addictive.

It is unlikely your night sweats are connected to you taking this med

There should be a leaflet within the box listing side effects. Failing that consult your GP.

If you Google 'Tramadol' there's a lot of info. I don't understand why you were given Tramadol long term for Gallbladder problems. What size are your Gallstones. I thought the advice was dietary. Also among the side effects are constipation and stomach pain. Do you have any side effects? I wasn't presribed anything for the pain. I was offered the operation which I refused, for now. My Gallbladder pain seems under control at the moment. If I have any unmanageable pain I take only paracetamol with between 200mg and 600mg ibuprofen short term.

It caused me to have nightmares and didn't relieve any pain. So I didn't take it for very long.

Hi Happykitty83, Tramadol seems a strange drug for gallbladder. Before I had the operation years ago I was given a drug beginning with M. Sorry I cannot recall the name. Ihad major surgery to remove my gallbladder but nowdays they do it by laproscope which does not require long hospital stay or lots of aftercare. I have had no trouble since so I would reccommend careful consideration of your treatment options. Investigate possible tablets for flare ups of pain. Take care and best wishesx

Thank u for your replies, I had my gallbladder out in may and they were very large and I was in intensive care for a week from a infection I cought, I was given tramadol when I was first told it was gallstones and after the op as I was in server pain and im still in pain, also they gave me codeine as well to take on top of that but I don't like the fact that I might over dose taking them so close together x

Hi.

I have only just seen your reply happykitty. Didn't get a notification.

If this were me I would be contacting the Consultant Surgeon and asking for a scan and to see them again urgently as you are still in this pain and it's not right. You should be recovered from the Surgery by now.

You could phone the Surgeon's secretary and ask to be seen in clinic asap or for a phone call back from the Consultant.

X
