Not many options left for me after my surgeon performed the wrong surgery according to my 2nd 3rd and 4th opinions.

I have just a consultation at St Thomas' London and was informed that after 3 surgeries on L4/L5 I still have a prolapsed disc and in his opinion the last surgery was a waste of time and that I should have had fusion. I have been offered 2 procedures one seemed very risky and involves the nerve being sepperated from scar tissue first problem is that they are both the same colour and COULD cause more damage to the nerve, my other option is to have electrodes implanted and like a pace maker will stimulate the nerves BUT if I have this then no more surgery will be carried out. Either way I could end up worse. So it looks like I will have to live with the pain and the constant use of painkillers for the time being.

Bear in mind that every consultation is the surgeons opinion, and different surgeons have different views on what should be done. If you don't want to go with treatment right now, it might be worthwhile thinking about having another consultation in a couple of years time - things change and what is too risky or not possible now, may well become a normal and relatively safe operation in the future. Don't give up completely, just maybe take a break from looking for answers.
