I have to take lovenox injection twice a day , ive been on it for 3 weeks now and I have heard lumps under the skin and they hurt.

What are they and what can I do to get rid of them and will they go away?

According to the list of side effects - you should notify your GP at once.

With any meds it is always wise to read these leaflets before starting on them.

If you inject slowly, very slowly, you should get less lumps and the lumps you get will go away in a day or so. I am on Fragmin, a similar blood thinner medication and when I start each injections I will pause as soon as it starts stinging, then wait and continue when it has stopped then go on until it starts stinging again and so on. On me it varies how much it stings on different places on my stomach.

You can write the date of injection on your stomach with a pen next to each injection site to make sure whether you are feeling fresh or old lumps, with injections twice a day you will always have some lumps, they are just swelling from the injection and each should go away quickly or within a day or two.

If you still find that each lump last more than a week or so you should definitely show them to your doctor or haematologist.
