Hi Florence

I was diagnosed endometriod oc stage 1a grade 3 in July 2010. Had the usual surgery (total hysterectomy) and 6 Carboplatin chemo. I have felt very well through most of the treatment and am back to normal now. My 3 month checks have just been extended to 4 monthly which is a step in the right direction.

I went with the flow as far as my treatment was concerned but am following as healthy a life style now as I can. Advice on this site has suggested green tea and ginger as being good natural anti cancer food. I am now taking them in capsule form as I feel that even if they do no good they will certainly do no harm. I also feel very much better now that I am trying to help myself.

Good luck with your treatment and try to keep as positive as you can as I do believe that also helps recovery.

I am very grateful for your reply, Tulsa. I had my CT scan today. So far everyone has made my cancer journey as pleasant as possible. My diagnosis was on Monday ( 3 days ago) so I'm still coming to terms with the news.

I shall certainly look into green tea and ginger as something to help me. Strange but I've just started to drink lemon, ginger and ginseng tea (M&S). Before this I was a plain English Breakfast Tea drinker. Maybe my body was responding naturally to the call of ginger!

I am by nature a positive person so in that respect I guess I've got a head start.

Like you I shall go with the flow concerning my treatment that's not to say I won't question and do my own investigations because I know I will but the professionals I've met so far have been listeners as well as excellent information givers which gives me confidence.

Once again thank you for taking the time to reply.

Good luck to you too as you continue along the way of your road.

Hi I am one of the support line nurses and I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Can you just clarify that it is cancer of the endometrium and not endometrioid ovarian cancer? As they are both treated differently it would be helpful to know so that we can give you the best support possible

Best Wishes

Hello Ruth

Thank you so much for your answer. I understood my diagnosis was cancer of the endometrium, to be truthful I did not know that endometrioid ovarian cancer existed. I shall definitely ask.

I had my CT scan today. My diagnosis was on Monday ( 3 days ago) so I'm still coming to terms with the news but I have a number that will enable me to contact the specialist nurse so I'll try and gauge when my CT scan results will be with my Consultant and then ring her to see when I can have them relayed to me.

My hopes and prayers are that the cancer is contained and hasn't gone on a run around!

Very best wishes and thank you again.

Dear Florence Thanks for getting back to me. If you are able to find out from your specialist nurse what type of cancer it is then do feel free to give me a ring so we can discuss things further. It must be a big shock to you and it does take a while to take everything in and I hope you have got supportive people around you. Have they given any indication of what treatment they will be offering you?

My phone number is 08453710554 10-5 and I am in the office today and tomorrow and then Wednesday to friday next week

Best Wishes

Hello Ruth

Pre op assessment today. I confirmed that it is endometrium cancer with cysts on right ovary. Total hysterectomy plus ovaries out on Thursday. The cancer is in situ for which I am so grateful. The system has been so efficient and everyone so helpful. Gold Star NHS

Best wishes

Thank you, Ruth, your kindness is very much appreciated.

Things are moving fast for me. Monday, diagnosis, Wednesday CT scan, this morning a phone call from hospital to say there's a theatre spot for me next Thursday and tomorrow, Friday, pre-op check. Breathless! Good old NHS.

Later today I shall write down my questions to ask the team tomorrow.

Unless my CT scan indicates differently, it was suggested a total hysterectomy would be the best way forward.

Yes, I have very supportive people around me and that really, really helps.

I need to clear my head now to write down my questions and do a 1000 jobs I've been meaning to do for months!

My best wishes

Wendy
