Hi, I have also had the same operation, but for a 22cm cyst and ovarian cancer,

If I can help you in anyway I will try to give you some advice from my experience.

Hi Lioness,

I had ovarian cancer with complications and was very scared but there is a lot of love and support here. So hope you get the answers that you seek and will be thinking of you.

In lucky I've had this done as a preventative surgery

They found I had the brca1 gene as my mum and both er sisters have had ovarian cancer my mum was diagnosed at 49,

I'm now 43 so they recommended surgery

Hi, I'm just considering having this done. I don't have the brca1 gene but my mum and one of her sisters have ovarian cancer. Have they put you striaght onto HRT? I'm really torn as to what to do - I'm 38, had a scan which showed no problems but I worry about it constantly. Consultant basically said it was up to me, that he can't advise which way to go!! Hope you're feeling ok.

hi marion

i am feeling fine thankyou

i had the surgery ten days ago and all went smoothly just felt uncomfortable for a few days because of the gas that they put into your body.

i like you was undecided i felt like im damed if i do and damed if i dont

but in the end i dididt want my children to lose their mum young like i did and i felt that just screening wasnt enough as they can still miss early signs and then its too late!

i feel very lucky to have been able to have preventative surgery and guilty too as so many people suffer from this horrendus disease.

i am on hrt patches and they have inserted a mirena coil in my womb to prevent womb cancer.

ive had a few hot flushes and a few tears but i think my body is balancing out now.

im back to hospital on wed for my biopsy results so im hoping all is clear

hope this helps you with you descision.

please dont hesitate to ask me any more questions

take care

Shen, for the sake of your future health , you need to find out mre about the gene. I am a brca1 carrier, Sharon, I am going tohave the oopherectomy and tubes out shortly. Very worried as my doctor said I would be fine after a few days, and will go on HRT for a while but, I read on this site that some people have had a rough time with it so am concerned. It was good to read that you're ok. I am interested in the coil you had out in. Was not told about that option
