Hello Ladies,

Is there anyone out there the same as me?

Filled with fluid, was drained, no op's, just 6 months of chemo, now 19 months into remission.

Feel so alone not met anyone else the same yet!!

Advice please!

It sounds like you had a lucky escape. I have never heard of anyone else not having an op, but perhaps in your case you didn't need it. Make the most the time now granted to you and feel grateful that you got off so lighlty.

Hi Kefi!

Isn't it interesting how important it is to feel in touch with others who have had EXACTLY the same experience as ourselves, (and survived it, of course)? I'm afraid that that person is not me as my illness took the conventional route and treatment. HOWEVER; I did find myself being quite reassured by the differences in my illness from others' experience, and deriving strength from that. I think that your experience is unusual, and that that is probably a very good thing. Can you find out from your oncologist why it was that you didn't need surgery? Try not to feel so alone, but change that into a feeling of being rather special and unusual. Oh, and above all stay well!!

Loads of love,

Isadora.

Many thank's greybadger and Isadora,

There was nothing there at the time of the build up of the fluid except for two 3m lymph glands in the tummy area! I asked for an op but they said there is nothing there to operate on, so just chemo.

Im keeping as positive as I can and working on your view's Isadora.

Wishing good health to all the ladies. x

Hi Kefi,

I can understand how you are feeling anxious/ I had an op but no chemo and felt that things may develop after that treatment plan. However, I'm still here after 8 and a half years! Try googling the Penny Brohn cancer centre. They do some very good relaxation and visualisation CDs, amongst other things. I found them great for when the worries got a bit out of hand. I'm sure that the oncology dept at your hospital will keep an eye on things for you, and you could try asking the nurse specialist attached to the gynae/oncology dept. They never seem to mind being asked about any worries!

Try to keep your mind on the here and now and fill it with little treats, even going for a walk keeps things in perspective sometimes, I found!

Good luck,

Wendy xx

Hello Wendy,

Thank's for your reply, so glad you are doing well, its great to hear of someone

who has made it over the dreaded 5 yrs!! I do try to stay in the here and now, but slip sometimes! and yes little treat's do help and love going for walk's etc.

Stay well.

I think each of us has had a different experience. I was like you Kefi I had ascities which I had drained and was told I didn't need surgery because there was no tumor to remove. I was referred to the Christie to start chemotherapy but they refused to start treatment without a tissue biopsy.

I had an omental biopsy first but that was inconclusive so then I had a laporoscopy which showed some borderline cells and some malignant cells but its still not sufficient for a definitive diagnosis so in two weeks I'm having a hysterectomy and they will also remove my omentum. They will biopsy my tissue before deciding if I need chemo.

Sometimes its worth getting a second opinion although dealing with the uncertainty is stressful.

Hi Scardycat40,

Thank's for your reply, Its amazing how different hospital's have different idea's

on treatment! We are just waiting to see how long before somehing come's back! and as you say the uncertainty is stressful!

Good luck with your hysterectomy.
